Our websites homepage is our primary conversion tool for our newspaper, radio, and direct mail ads. We install solar panels onto residential rooftops. Our primary audience is generally 35-65 year old homeowners.
Color: Orange and Blue complement each other so well, www.SoundCloud.com does a good job of using those colors. I do like the orange in www.sprinklepenny.com better. Space: I do like space.
Homepage: The homepage needs to be heavily conversion oriented, essentially a landing page for people who hear about us through non PPC sources such as radio, newspapers and direct mail. I want it to have subtle directional cues (not flashing vibrating arrows) that direct a user from the top left (The scrolling text at www.Sprinklepenny.com) down to the video, over to the FAQ, and finally over the form they can fill out to sign up. I want visitors to the site to be guided into watching the video, getting a few questions answered before they have the opportunity to sign up for a proposal. Hence the guided tour. (And no, the video on our current website is not the same one we will use for our new website.) The bottom of the page should have an "About Us" bar, where I can put a picture of my smiling self, and maybe a few employees. Room for a signature as well as a paragraph talking about the company. Make room for a prominently displayed 1-800 number, as well as a email for questions. And some space for a Verisign Trust logo, both on the bottom of the form and elsewhere on the site. Thank you Page: After homeowners fill out the form on either the landing page or the home page they will be directed here. The point of this page is threefold. 1. Thank them for choosing Spearhead. 2. Provide them direction for the next part of the process. Make space so we can politely inform them they need to collect their electric bills/online usage. Bullets could very well suffice, however for the thank you page I am much less picky as to how it looks, dazzle me. 3. Direct them to like us on Facebook, in order to maximise the value of each conversion this page should encourage social media interaction with our company. Facebooks embeddable "Like Box" should be incorporated in.
What to avoid
No Clutter. I hate clutter.
