We are also running a Logo contest Company description: OpenChallenges is a new technology company. We are a two-sided market. We help public institutions solve real problems in society by connecting them to solutions worldwide. Domain: http://openchallenges.com Keywords: Innovation, Smart Cities, Technology, solutions to urban and social problems, citizens, transparency, global. Company goal: Help organizations to accelerate the process of finding innovative companies to solve problems. Target audience • Public sector: City council employees working for example in Health, Environmental, Urban Planning and Social Development departments. • Innovators: Mainly SMEs and nonprofit organizations Company Goals in the next 12 months: to attract organizations to publish challenges and attract solution providers to create their profiles and submit them to challenges. Competitors: Other companies that run challenges such as Innocentive or Challenge.gov. We are different because we are like a matchmaker instead a platform for idea generation. We link the challenge provider with already existing and successful solutions in the market. We save cost and time to challenge proposers by providing knowledge on the market instead of developing a solution from scratch. We save cost and time to solution providers by providing direct access to leads and potential customers in the public sector. 1) The Landing page The objective of the landing page is to communicate what we do in a simple and engaging way. The page is used by the site’s two main target groups: Target group #1 is challenge providers which consists of civil servants, city CEOs, advisors to public authorities, and project managers from the public sector or from e.g. hospitals and similar organizations that procure innovative solutions. Target group #2 is solution providers and consists of private companies developing innovation solutions, entrepreneurs, innovators, and sales managers in medium-sized or larger companies. New visitors from both target groups should be able to quickly understand what OpenChallenges.com is about, and either seeks more information - ideally directly on the landing page – or request an invitation to the platform. • We might show a video explaining what we do or we’ll write a headline, for example: Join the community of innovators to solve challenges around the world. • For a period of time the users will register only with an invitation. Therefore, there should be a “request invitation” button that stands out. • There should be a login button. • The Landing page shows the list of challenges (more information about the challenge list in section 2). You can propose how the challenges are shown, for example as a list or tiles. Take into account that in the future we might have a great amount of challenges. You can propose to show a reduced list of challenges in the landing page and a “show more” button that leads to the “challenge list” page. • Some parts of the landing page should be customizable to offer the possibility to other organizations who want to use our platform for running challenges. It should be possible to place their logo instead of ‘Open Challenges’ and change some colors. • Under the main content the landing page should contemplate the possibility to grow or extend if it’s needed to add content. For example news feed or social media feeds. • The layout of the landing page could live in its own. It doesn’t have to be the same layout as the rest of the website. • Optional: 3 steps on how the challenge submission works, for example: a) request an invitation, b) create a solution and c) submit the solution to the challenge. • About us link/button. • Inspirational landing pages: http://www.instantshift.com/2013/08/07/corporate-landing-pages/ The challenge list page The challenge list is part of the Landing Page. The challenges providers describe the challenges their have that relates to serving e.g. citizens or patients. Example of challenges are: “How can waiting time in hospitals be reduced?”, “How can patients take control of their medical data?”, and “How can pedestrian safety at road crossings be improved?”. Solution providers can submit their solutions to the challenge, for the purpose of being selected to e.g. pilot or sell their solution to the challenge provider. Each entry should summarize the challenge. Content: A page that shows a list of challenges in different stages: 1) opening soon 2) open (and it has to show how many days left) and 3) closed. Maybe show it as a timeline like OpenIdeo.com or Kickstarter The content should include the following information: • Title formulated as a question, for example: How can you help the city of Copenhagen to reduce bicycle thefts? (max 55 characters) • Summary in 140 characters to share on Twitter • Picture or video • Sponsor by or Challenge provider logo, for example logo of the Copenhagen Municipality (optional, the challenge image can be the sponsor logo or something else that reflects the content of the challenge) • Location Possible: • How many solutions have submitted to the challenge? • If there is a limit on the amount of solutions that can be submitted to the challenge, then we might need a counter. Wants: • We want the list to be visually driven more than text-driven. • We want to see different ways to visualize the list. • Search options, with filters such as ‘stage’ (open, coming soon, etc.) or by tag -Inspiration: https://openideo.com 2) The challenge page The challenge page describes the individual challenge. The page is primarily read by the solution providers planning to submit their solution to the challenge. The challenge page should display each challenge in an accessible format. Content: • Title formulated as a question, for example: How can you help the city of Copenhagen to reduce bicycle thefts? (55 characters max) • Challenge sponsor name • Summary in 140 characters to share on Twitter • Picture or video • Sponsor by or Challenge provider logo, for example logo of the Copenhagen Municipality. It could be more than one sponsor. • Location • Long description of the challenge • Person(s) in charge of the challenge • Downloads (pdf) • Show the stages of the challenge: opening soon, when it’s open it has to show how many days left and finally “closed” • Button “participate now” • Feature similar challenges to this one, or more challenges published from this organization, or more open challenges (similar as Amazon “if you like this you would like that”) • It could be possible that we want to show the solutions that have been submitted to the challenge and the winner of the challenge. • The challenge tags or category Possible: • If there is a limit on the amount of solutions that can be submitted to the challenge, then we might need a counter. For future consideration • FAQ section • webinar, tutorials • Comments section • Possibility to ask questions in an open forum to the challenge provider. (This functionality might not be implemented in the first phase, but an option should be presented for incorporating it into the design). 3) The user’s dashboard page When the users log in, they will land on the Dashboard. The User’s Dashboard should display all the actions the user can take. For example: personal profile, creating a company profile, creating a solution, submitting to a challenge, conversations. The Dashboard should enable the user to navigate the website, and is thus the primary interface for the user on a daily basis. It has to be a modular page because new content or functionalities will be added. It should be like a visual menu. To consider: • Profile Complete Percent • Alerts on new features or new open challenges • Recommendations • We might consider the option of having different dashboard according to the type of user or preferences. For example, the user dashboard for a challenge provider should give the option to post a challenge, to follow up the submission, etc. Inspiration: www.qz.com -> click “obsessions” in the top left corner. LinkedIn profile 4) Solution page The Solution page is the format in which companies feature their products or services The solution page should be a professional and beautiful presentation of companies’ products or services. The companies will share that profile with their clients. Similar to sharing your LinkedIn profile as opposed to your paper CV Core content: • Image(s) • Title (55 characters max) • Subtitle 140 characters to share to share in twitter • Summary or description of the solution (max 550 characters) • It has to be possible to understand the solution by the image, the title (max 55 characters) and summary (140 characters) The page has to be modular because in the future new content or functionalities will be added. For example: • Comments section • Buttons: Like, Save to my favorites, Follow, Download as pdf, Send it to someone, • Information visualization: Submitted (amount of times this solution has been submitted to a challenge) and Win (amount of time this solution won a challenge) • Tags • Links • References. I.e. where the solution has been implemented • Testimonials and recommendations from e.g. clients. This is the page that describes the organization. Common content: • Image and/or Video • Name • Location • Employees • Description/free text Content exclusive for challenge providers: • List of challenges they have published Content exclusive for solution providers: • Contact • Solutions (one company might have several solutions) • Challenges they have submitted and won • Employees • Offices • Turnover

It will require that the user completes information to the following content: • Motivation (free text) • Questionnaire (answer questions) • Select a solution created by the person • Upload documents, pdf For the backend: • Image uploader • Text fields (limited, mandatory, free text) • Buttons • Menu We expect the final result to contain a design guidelines.
