Cosmetics & Beauty
We provide upscale wine therapy spa products. All our spa products contain a Chardonnay grape seed extract from Burgundy, France, as the primary antioxidant in our body care products (see http://olavie.com/spa-products/ ). Our products are used in treatment in many 5-star hotel and destination spas throughout the U.S. (see http://olavie.com/wine-spas/ ). The end users that buy our products at these spas are mostly women from ages 30-55.
What's your vision?
We need to have finishing touches put on a partially designed candle box and also create Christmas versions of it. In addition, a gift box needs to be designed that coordinates in look with all the candle boxes and existing spa products. A bit of background first... We launched a new candle line ( see http://olavie.com/home-fragrances/ ) two years ago but it hasn’t done that well, primarily due to the packaging. We have partially redesigned the candle boxes to make it match our new spa product packaging at https://www.pinterest.com/kenheng969/olavie-new-candle-preliminary-packaging/ Printing boxes can get very expensive due to minimum quantity requirements. So with the new candle box packaging design, we have used the following techniques to minimize printing costs: 1) The box is composed of a tray with a sleeve. 2) The tray part has the image of the candle on both sides so even if we redesign the sleeve later, we can continue using this tray. We chose to feature the candle because of the unique motif on the candle glass, i.e. the wine bottle motif. This is important to show in an opaque box where the consumer doesn’t necessarily know what the candle looks like unless there is a tester present, which is not often the case. 3) The sleeve part is just printed with gray. The center part that has color would be a label. Printing labels is much cheaper. We can print many different designs of labels with techniques ranging from foil-stamping to embossing and it will be a lot cheaper than printing boxes using the same technique. Therefore, a well-designed sleeve can be used for a long time going forward and all we have to do is to re-design the label. The label size can be bigger than what it is now for sure. We need you to put finishing touches, e.g., foil, embossing, textured paper, over graphics changes/enhancement, etc on the new candle box given the above parameters. The candle market in the U.S. is very saturated and competition is very keen. It’s dominated by a few big brands and their packaging is amazing for the price. I have put together a few notable examples here https://www.pinterest.com/kenheng969/candle-packaging/ However, you can google voluspa candles, aquiesse candles, thymes candles, nest fragrances, and you will see. In addition, we also need you to design four different labels for our holiday scents this year: 1) Mulled Cider 2) Mistletoe & Ivy 3) Fir Balsam 4) Crackling Firewood For the gift set box, we are creating one box to accommodate different configurations of products as follows: 1) Tuscan Fig Body Moisturizer and Body Scrub - Interior will use Layout A at https://www.pinterest.com/kenheng969/olavie-gift-set-interior-layouts/ 2) Tuscan Fig Body Moisturizer and Body Butter - Interior will use Layout A above 3) Tuscan Fig Body Moisturizer, Body Scrub and Body Butter- Interior will use Layout B at https://www.pinterest.com/kenheng969/olavie-gift-set-interior-layouts/ 4) Cassis & French Oak Body Moisturizer and Body Scrub - Interior will use Layout A above 5) Cassis & French Oak Body Moisturizer and Body Butter - Interior will use Layout A above 6) Cassis & French Oak Body Moisturizer, Body Scrub and Body Butter- Interior will use Layout B above As you can see, there are two different scents: 1) Tuscan Fig 2) Cassis & French Oak Within each scent, there are three product configurations. Again, to minimize printing costs, we want one box to accommodate all configurations so the box has to be color neutral. We can add belly bands to the box -- maybe one belly band for each scent and then labels to tell which products are inside the box. Here are examples of what we like and why we like them https://www.pinterest.com/kenheng969/gift-sets/ You can also design other elements like interior paper, ribbon, etc. that will give it an upscale feel. However, please do not over-design to the point that the box will be very expensive or labor intensive to produce. So in summary, we need the following deliverables: 1) A versatile candle box design that will work for different scents and also holidays scents. 2) Special holiday labels for the candles that are of the holiday scents. 3) A gift set box that will accommodate different spa product configurations. Designs should have a fresh and sophisticated feel, since our products are sold in spas. but not too simple or boring. Think of contemporary interpretation of the old world. They should feel upscale and luxurious. The packaging should “pop” and really catch the consumer’s eye and create a desire to purchase. They said another option is to make the candle box as a normal folding carton instead of using a tray and sleeve construction, and just put a label on the front of the folding carton to differentiate the scents.
