lmerriam got their new app design by running a design contest:
Design an intuitive UI & layout for a network diagnostic application
Check out lmerriam's App design contest…
Users can use the app to test their wireless network and device health and performance, either by themselves or to gather information when working with a Help Desk Agent.
The UI should be user-friendly for less technically-savvy users and easy to navigate. (We like the simplicity and layout of the "Behance" login page attached.) Aesthetically we would like something that looks modern and technical. Preferred font: Open Sans light & semibold Preferred colors: Blue: #0067b1 Dark Gray: #333333 Medium Gray: #a2a4a5 Light Gray: #e1e3e5 -or- #eaedef Green: #1dbe60 Orange: #f0931d Red: #f02e2e
Network Diagnostic Application
After a user logs in (Screen 1), they can select "Run Diagnostics" to run the full diagnostic test suite, or capture audio/video/photo of their issue (media capture pages not included in this design request) on Screen 2. If they select "Run Diagnostics," the testing page (Screen 3) will open and begin automatically, showing the user the progress through all the tests and listing failed tests as they are completed. There is no way to run individual tests; selecting "Run Diagnostics" runs a series of tests but we don't want to display all of these to the user. See attachments for content. For more details we can grant access to the test-flight application upon request.
What to avoid
We do not want to provide much detail in the testing screen (Screen 3), just overall progress of all tests (not listing the individual tests being run) and any failed tests (the example currently includes the status of all passed or failed tests; we do not want this in the final). Similar to how Netflix or Xbox (see attachment) network testing shows a "Testing..." window but does not list individual tests it is performing.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. App design starts at €549.

Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
lmerriam collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
