Cjprato got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Software Sleuth needs a new logo

Real People...Real Reviews
We provide real, detailed reviews of popular software products. Our target audience is all computer users - specifically those inclined to purchase software products. This group is generally male and well-educated. Our angle is that we review all the products ourselves and invite others to share their experiences as well. We are all about transparency and honesty. To back this up, we talk frankly about affiliate marketing and how some sites create fake reviews in the hopes of receiving commissions, and some tricks that software companies use to get you to purchase their products.
Logo types to explore
Though this is not a requirement, I think a logo with a detective with a magnifying glass would be nice and would communicate the fact that our company investigates product claims. I'm looking for a nice balance between seriousness and playfulness, along with web 2.0 that invites a dialog with users.

And then… they selected a winner!
I loved the simplicity, and professionalism. The designer was VERY accommodating and easy to work with. From the first time I saw their work, I knew that was the winning design.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
