logo for Resistor

I am a freelance software and hardware developer based in Auckland, New Zealand. My company focuses on providing services to businesses in the open source hardware and maker space. I also design and sell hardware for musicians. I want the branding of "Resistor" to be a little edgy, but also allude to our familiarity with the electronics industry.
Logo types to explore
Whilst the "full" version of this logo will be in colour on the web and other media, the logo needs to be able to simplify to a single monochrome logo capable of being laser cut out of a surface (ie a stencil, it must have no non-connected parts) - for example here's the logo for my MIDI controller, laser cut out of ABS: http://cl.ly/P44h
