Avi.alkabetz got their new logo design by running a design contest:
A new logo for OpenLegacy (a Java open source project)

Legacy Modernization Made Open
Our open source code, named "OpenLegacy", is a set of Java tools that enables companies with legacy (old) applications to modernize their application GUI (screens) easily. It takes the typical "mainframe green screen" of those applications, and turns them into nice web-based screens (and extend the capabilities of the old application to connect to the modern web-based platforms). In order to see how an old mainframe green screen looks like, try searching "mainframe green screen" in Google Images. We do have a logo currently, as you can see in our newly designed home page in: http://relivo.com/designs/openlegacy/3/. It's not bad at all and it seems that it conveys the idea, but we are looking for other options too. It could be a green screen with splash/rainbow of colors, and with the OpenLegacy + short sloagan built in to the logo. Or possibly a window or a door open to the world to show the window of opportunities OpenLegacy opens for old applications. I am open to other ideas, of course. The color scheme should follow what we have now. Design should be clean, minimal, professional, cool, modern, pleasant, quiet. Blue/green/gray, with splash of other colors only if u see fit. Font should be rounded, web 2.0, like Skype and like we have now. There should be a slogan in the logo: "Legacy Modernization Made Open" (it will probably change later!). And the name "OpenLegacy", should appear too (with a trademark (TM) mark). (Which makes the right side of our current logo quiet good, but it's not mandatory to keep it as-is) Happy Design!
