Create a dependable yet modern logo for Headland Excavations

Start with something strong
Hi there, I am a freelance marketing professional and I am doing a pro bono business rebrand for my brother. Neither of us are very technical designers so for his brand identity (logo, colours, fonts, etc…) we wanted to offer the job to a professional who is willing to collaborate with us on the perfect design. Introducing Headland Excavations Headland Excavations is a high quality earth-moving company founded by experienced master builder, Damien Rose and located in Avalon, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The combination of Damien's highly technical, building ability coupled with his dedication to quality and service, ensures his excavation clients get more than just a digger for hire. He will join his clients' team as a development partner who consults on the best solutions to a wide range of challenges that can face the complex projects they specialise in. And his ‘measure twice, cut once’ approach ensures the project stays on time and budget by insuring against blow-outs caused by poorly laid foundations. Currently, Headland Excavations operates as DCR Construction and Earthworks and is owned and operated by Damien and his wife Catherine. However, as the lions’ share of their business is referral based, they want to change their brand to be more memorable while at the same time communicating their quality approach and coastal location - Headland Excavations. In their arsenal is one mid sized, utility digger (excavator) and one equivalently sized tipper (truck) - both pictured in the reference material. Damien and Cat would like to see Headland Excavations grow to include more machinery and more, like minded operators as they build a reputation for high quality and service in their area and beyond. We hope that you can help us tell their story by designing the perfect representation of Headland Excavations.
Logo types to explore
Creative Input We already have some pre-conceived thought starters but they are designed to inspire you rather than to be a barrier so please feel free to evolve them: Styles: Low Polygon design (reference attached), block colours (more on that below) Icon: Distinctly-shaped Avalon Headland (reference attached) with excavator (reference attached) and a sunrise (optional) Excavator could be on top of or inside of the headland or some other configuration all together Colours Headland Excavations is dependable, skilled and high quality. It is also based on the northern beaches of Sydney. We are looking for a colour scheme that conveys dependability while still conveying natural beauty of the coast. Blues Greens Yellows Sandstone texture (reference attached) Rock texture Applications Although we don’t require you to layout the approved design on additional applications, please keep in mind that we will be taking your design and applying it to a range of different uses. But by all means feel free to mock the designs up in these applications so we can better understand their appeal: Website Business Card T shirt Hat Beer cooler holders Vehicle Wrapping A rock carving with logo and business details on it Output To successfully finish this project, we’ll require the approved design in the following formats before payment: Print ready PDF PNG with no background Full working vector .ai, .eps and/or .psd files
