We are a retro arcade that also has some modern gaming aspects as well. We are a bar as well as a kitchen. Our name Arcade 92 is a focus on the gaming industry from the 1990s. Our target audience is 21-40 year olds. 2/3 male and 1/3 female. Generally we are not targeting "kids". Overall we want a more upscale clientele and our building is located in an historic downtown square.
We struggled selecting our industry because we are an arcade which is gaming but we are also a bar. Also the building we are in will have an upscale industrial retro look and we would like the logo to have a hipster retro vintage vibe that appeals to millennials. When we say "vintage" and "retro" we are not referring to the feel of a vintage arcade game or an obvious representation of an arcade machine. We aren't looking for something that looks straight out of the 80s or 90s. We also aren't looking for anything "silly" like making a gaming controller into a face or a game console into a beer mug. Definitely nothing that looks like clipart, please. We are going for upscale and classy. Don't mind the incorporation of a gaming icon as long as it's tastefully done. In terms of the gaming controller/arcade cabinet concept, see the references for a controller we like. This does NOT have to be the controller in the logo...it's just a for instance to illustrate that even though we have vintage arcade machines, we also have modern. So we don't want to too heavily stress the old school games in the logo design. For example, we don't really want an atari game controller or old school arcade cabinet because it communicates that this is all we offer. The vintage look should include the texture, feel, etc. of something you'd find in an historic downtown square or old warehouse. Aged and worn. But the hipster component should make it feel more up to date to appeal to the millennial demographic. We also would like the word ARCADE to be the most prominent. Please do not spell out 92.
