What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Entertainment & The Arts
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
People who love fairy tales, so mostly women and girls. We're about to publish a middle-grade (ages 8 to 12) novel called Prezzemolina, the Little Parsley Girl, based on the classic Italian fairy tale.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
Tinkerbell, the Tooth Fairy, fairy godmothers. We're all familiar with these enchanting creatures from our childhood. Readerly is working on a collection of fairy-themed products, including a book and t-shirts, called 101 Fairies You May Never Have Heard Of: A Fairy Menagerie. Usually, when we imagine fairies, Disney comes to mind, or Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies. Gauzy, sugar-sweet, and nostalgic. We're crafting a whimsical, yet irreverent twist on fairy iconography. Our fairies bring magic to the world that modern kids actually inhabit. Instead of crocus fairies and bluebell fairies, we're introducing to our young readers the hair knot fairy, the owwie fairy, and the dust bunny fairy. We need your help bringing our vision of modern fairies to life. The Dust Bunny Fairy, true to her name, lives in the nooks and crannies of bedrooms, in the corners of closets, beneath couches, and behind bookshelves. Lonely for company, she lovingly knits dust threads together into balls, then, with her magic, brings them to life as her dearest companions, the dust bunnies, with whom she can frolic and romp. We'd like you to design a graphic illustration of a Dust Bunny Fairy in her native tableau. The illustration we like best will go on a t-shirt, and eventually be included in the book. The digital assets you produce should be Merch by Amazon ready. We encourage you to let your imagination run wild and to use a colorful, whimsical, irreverent design style. We may invite the winner to do a dozen or more similar designs.
The Dust Bunny Fairy is a scene that includes her habitat (see above) and her companions, the dust bunnies. Should be Merch by Amazon ready. See the Merch by Amazon guidelines for digital assets. The graphic illustration should include the name of the fairy in a stylistically complementary font: "Dust Bunny Fairy".
