What's your vision?
I am looking for a brand character “Sheila”, plus a friend “Megan”, to represent my product branding and to be featured on my website, packaging and various marketing materials. I'm particularly drawn to the colors used in the attached drawings BrandingOne & BrandingTwo but Sheila will need to be a bit thicker. Sheila should have a figure much like the American model Ashley Graham but with a larger chest. Sheila should be between an American size 12-16. This artist has a great gallery and must be very busy as she hasn't answered my mail. Please see her pics for inspiration: http://www.pinupbombshells.com/pin-up-gallery.html My primary focus is Sheila. Sheila needs to be thick and voluptuous, fun, playful and flirty. My target market leans toward heavier women and I want to present a very sexy, fun, sassy and FRIENDLY (female friendly), racially ambiguous woman, probably with dark hair. Skin color should not be Caucasian but also not too dark - must have strong contrast for facial features so maybe a soft Latina or Asian hue. Facial features beautiful and sexy - I Google image searched "mixed race models" and the top five rows showed many gorgeous girls, dark hair light eyes is very striking. Sheila might have some type of excessive hair (large, bouncy, curly, voluminous) but it can be tamed into awesome retro styles, whatever those are. Body type should be full-figured much like the following attached images : HelloNurse (needs bigger boobs), LusciousLady (need lighter skin color), GapTooth (no gap teeth, no glasses), and StraddleGun (no glasses). Two of these women look middle-aged (no). Sheila has an epic bosom AND a waist. and hips. and thighs. Sheila is bodacious. Clothing should preferably be a great dress and heels, or other pin-up appropriate clothing - no bikinis, no lingerie, no visible stomach - she needs to be wearing CLOTHING, probably a dress of some sort or a top and (non-mini) skirt to mid/lower thigh, knees or lower. Retro-style clothing (or with a modern twist), the PinupBombshells site has great inspiration. Please respect that artist with your own illustration style. Some of her girls look slightly mean or evil and our girls are FUN and FRIENDLY (and sassy and flirty and sexy). No tattoos. Heels should NOT be platform heels but instead be either classic pointy-toe high heels or peep toe heels or Mary-Jane-style heels or even spectator pumps. Little bows may also be cute like the peep toe heels HelloNurse is wearing. Heel height should be five inches or 11-12 cm which is 110-120 mm. This is the heel height the ever-suffering Melania Trump wears regularly, please google these images for more detail. Next is "Megan" - Yes, Megan is the most basic white girl name I could think of because nobody likes a Susan or Linda. Sheila's friend Megan is a chestnut-haired white girl with hair color/style (thick/straight) like StraddleGun's, maybe longer. Megan should have a more standard pinup frame, perhaps in capris, heels and a cute top with Sheila in a dress. Sheila should be the more compelling, sexier character and will be my primary brand focus. Basically I want Megan to look like ME (hi!) because that's my gift to myself. See my public FB photos for more on what I look like (link below). Please don't make Megan too plain but it's important she's not Sheila's "skinnier, hotter friend" - that already sucks for every Sheila out there - instead let's empower and inspire voluptuous babes. Here is a link to pics of me: https://www.facebook.com/dawn.hunter.USA Attached Megan body-type images are DrumGirl (no music instruments - I'm artsy-fartsy-craftsy with a bedazzled glue gun and *sigh* a terrible weak spot for celebrity gossip). And ToolGirl! Love the drill & toolkit! I'm the handyman in my home, I'm excellent at fixing stuff. Megan can also pretend (!) to like fitness - one of my target markets is the entire female gym community which is THE WHOLE REASON for a second character - my market is not just curvy women. Maybe Megan secretly hates the gym, I know I do. Megan also reads a lot, but no sports; fuck sports. What does Sheila like? Ummm... eating and drinking (no shame!) and DANCING yessss damn straight Sheila has rhythm! She also likes burgers and appletinis and pasta and rosé and cheesecake and strawberry daiquiris with whipped cream and LADYBUGS because they are cute. Sheila always flirts with the waiter and tips well. Sheila likes sailboats and Italian men and fancy nightclubs. Sheila does NOT twerk. Sheila can tango her cans off AND do the foxtrot. Sheila loves to tell her beauty secrets to girls she meets in the bathroom - a huge marketing push, the idea of women sharing beauty secrets for awkward glamour issues. More on skin color: If Sheila is tannish-yellow with dark hair and slightly exotic features and Megan is peach-ish with chestnut hair they can both be the same darkness value which would be good for printing. Sheila is still AMERICAN she just looks exotic. I know this is a tricky thing but basically she shouldn't look foreign, good luck with that, ha! (sorry). We can work together on the face, that's not most important. Update: I have uploaded photos which roughly estimate the coloration differences between Sheila & Megan's skin/hair/eyes. Again - Sheila's hair/eyes can be any variation of dark/light so this is just representative. See matching Sheila/Megan "SkinHair" files attached below. They look similar to BrandingOne and BrandingTwo but with new hair/skin/eyes. I might be using the Funkydori Adobe Typekit font for my logo, just fyi. Once these characters are established I may request additional illustrations of particular scenarios – Sheila telling Megan a secret (closeup heads/shoulders), both girls laughing, eating burgers, dancing at a nightclub, attending a wedding, going to a costume party, whispering about men, sharing lipstick, things like that. They would be wearing occasion-appropriate attire so their wardrobe could vary which might be fun to illustrate. For example I will be marketing a bridesmaid/wedding product, a costume-related accessory, a nightclub kit, etc. This could be a long-term business relationship for future marketing materials. Currently I'm a bootstrapping NY startup working out of my kitchen with limited funds which should change in the next 8 months WITH EXCELLENT BRANDING. :D
This is a brand for AWKWARD BEAUTY solutions. Brand imaging should be retro-modern and FUN (and FRIENDLY because bitches suck) with an aspirational, flirty-glam appeal. See notes on colors - please don't do classic 50's diner blue & pink, I'm shooting for rich pastels like peach, mint, lavender, robin's egg blue, banana, pink, water blue, soft orange, fuchsia, bright turquoise & all the sherbert colors. I google-imaged all these before typing them just now so I feel good about Google's visual definitions. Red may clash with my color scheme so any "red" should probably be a deep pink or berry. Have you seen the colors for THINX? They make me want to take a personal day to slit my wrists; they SUCK. So fucking depressing like bleeding into your underwear should be. Go to www.shethinx.com to see. Consider them the anti-inspiration. I look forward to seeing your work, thank you!!
