traversient got their new button or icon by running a design contest:
Help Traversient Inc. with a new button or icon
Check out traversient's Button or icon contest…
Traversient makes popular and much appreciated mobile apps that feature in premiere online marketplaces like the iPhone and iPad App Store.
What's your vision?
The contest's icon is for an iPhone / iPad app that shows information display markers on a map, from Foursquare. Each display marker shows popout information bubbles with info from the social network when it's pressed. Please look at the quick-and-dirty mockups in the two attached PDFs. "icon sketch idea.pdf" shows the overall icon idea. "icon sketch pointers.pdf" shows three points, that are explained below: 1. "Our" Frame: This, for example could be a 3D frame around (and forming) the marker. 2. The marker: This is the shape of our actual app's display markers that drop as points on the map. 3. The marker tip: This is the actual point that the marker sits on, on the map. 4. The colored, filled in part, in the center of the marker is the "network" area. This is the area of the icon that should signify what social network it uses, we want to have Foursquare *look-alike* branding in this area. Parts 1,2 and 3 will remain the same across all the apps. Part 4 will change completely with every app's target Internet service. The app's target network is the Foursquare (http://foursquare.com/ ) geo check-in network. Foursquare source artwork is available at this URL: https://foursquare.com/about . There will be repeat work with the same concept for future similar apps, if the current app is successful and we like your work.
