Just one button! Only one more button is needed to complete our interface design! Guaranteed winner! We're working on the interface design for a potential photo editing application. We have everything designed pretty much how we want it except for a single component: the tiles/buttons that appear at the tray at the bottom of the interface (you can see a deselected one in a faint brushed aluminum grey and a selected one in orange in the screenshot). In this application, when you choose an image modification from the panel on the right, it drops a tile into the tray on the bottom, and from there you can select a tile to adjust it via sliders that hover over the image when the tile is selected (as seen in the screenshot). Our current design for these tiles is not too bad. However, we think someone may be able to come up with an alternate that looks a little more fun/interactive than our current design. It's difficult to make a button that is "fun" without looking gimmicky and like a toy - we want this software to feel both professional and fun at the same time. Since the interface in the right panel is rather plain and computer-y, we want to balance that with tiles that are a bit less computery (but that still work graphically with the rest of the interface). ***EDIT*** By "fun", I don't mean that we want it to look like a child's toy. "Playful" is probably more the right word. It might reference cameras or film in some slightly playful way with textures or design details, while still remaining professional-feeling. Kind of like how GarageBand on Mac is playful by having that wood texture on the sides. Also, don't be afraid to use interesting fonts (though using the existing font -Lucida Grande I believe - may help tie in the design with the rest of the interface). ***END EDIT*** Your task then is to design an alternate look for this tile/button (including a selected and a deselected state) that works with the rest of the interface as it is currently designed. There may well be a nice texture or object taken from photography that works nice for these tiles and goes well with the textured background of the application. Note that each of these tiles has a small button on it to delete the tile and another to disable the tile. I've provided a screenshot with the existing tiles removed so please place your design inside that space in that screenshot when you submit it. I'll also attach the icon for the program so you can get a better idea of its look and feel. Good luck, we're looking forward to what you create!
