What's your vision?
Software Maintenance is very different compared to Software Development, but the execution models used in across the world are same. The type of work and size variations, flow, skills required, and phases are all different in Software Maintenance, but the execution models adapted are not tailor made for Software Maintenance, they are primarily devised for the Software Development teams, passed on to the maintenance teams who inherited these models with minor adjustments. It is time to look at Software Maintenance as a separate domain and design models to suit the requirements. This publication highlights the basic needs and complexities of the Software Maintenance, and discusses a hybrid version execution model called SCRUMBAN which does justice to the requirements of the Software Maintenance and delivers higher effieciency.
