Finding AWESOME. Proven Steps To Extraordinary Health
David Wells BSc.(Hons)Ost., cert. ICAK., is an Osteopath & Applied Kinesiologist with 20 years experience in private practice. He has worked in the UK, Singapore, Nepal and Portugal where he now lives. David was originally an engineer, and as such takes a practical, common sense approach to medicine. His background presents a questioning mind which demands logic and reasoning rather than just a scientific facade. By choosing to follow a path unconstrained by clinical assertions, he is able to focus on the causes of disease and therefore reverse them by restoring harmony between you and your environment.
The book explains in layman's language the causes of today's most common heath issues. It presents an alternative approach to western medicine and guides the reader through a series of natural processes for reversing them and maintaining health and vitality into old age. It flies in the face of what passes as medicine today!
Those with health issues wanting a natural solution. Those with health issues not responding to the western medical approach. Those wanting to maintain optimum health and vitality into old age who are prepared to make a little effort to achieve it.
Book cover type
This is a serious natural medicine/health book so it needs to appear clean and uplifting in a simple way, NOT new agey or 'spiritual'. I want a design that combines the feeling of a connection with nature, but in a way that suggests its backed by scientific knowledge, if that's possible. I would prefer the design to be eye catching rather than an image that requires close attention. So TWO OR THREE COLOURS only would be good. Fonts I have no particular preference so long as they are harmonious with the book text, which is Calibri. Book will be approx. standard 2x3 portrait format. See the book cover below. Whilst not related the style is simple bold and eye catching. Update. Of the two words in the title, Awesome is the more impactful, so better to highlight Awesome, not 'Finding'. The image does not necessarily have to look medical, rather to be eye-catching suggesting a connection with nature, and something that suggests readers are looking for or following a set of instructions/paths. One major idea in the book is about how we should be in harmony with nature and are in fact an extension of everything around us. The reader, i.e. a person, is at the centre of the purpose of the book. I don't have any particular preference for fonts, just whatever works. The tag line, 'Proven Steps to Extraordinary Health' should appear under the title.
What to avoid
ANYTHING THAT LOOKS LIKE CLINICAL MEDICINE. Capsule look like pills, which are usually clinical. These should be avoided. Similarly a mortar and pestle is very much a herbalists image, so avoid this. Yoga poses looks like yoga. This is not yoga.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their book cover.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
dwellsosteopatI collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Firstly, the final design is great. I'm very happy with it. The designer was a bit frustrating however. She either didn't take the time to read my messages properly or just ignored the bits considered unimportant. Consequently this process took longer than was necessary. Its difficult when designers change details clients didn't ask to be changed. So as a buyer, I had to watch every single detail with every revision, even stuff I hadn't asked to be changed.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
